Dual Channel Ambient Fine Dust Sampler PEM-DCAFDS 1

Dual Channel Ambient Fine Dust Sampler PEM-DCAFDS 1

Polltech takes pride in introducing this new product in its repertoire of time tested Ambient Fine Dust Samplers. This new product has been specifically designed to cater to meet the standing need for a sampler that is capable of simultaneous sampling of PM2.5 and PM10 particulates within the ambit of USEPA and CPCB design stipulations.

  • Simultaneously carry out sampling of PM2.5 and PM10 particulates through two separate samplers co-located to provide convenience while avoiding interference.
  • One meter distance between PM10 sampling inlet and PM2.5 sampling inlet.
  • Innovative design ensures compliance with EPA reference method for determination of PM10 thus making it a standard reference method instrument for PM10 sampling too.

Available Model : PEM-ADS 2.5/10µ

This advanced sampler comprises two separate samplers or sampling channels. One of the channels is our standard PM2.5 sampler which is attuned to the determination of concentration of PM2.5 (AED ≤ 2.5 microns) concentration. The other channel is, in fact, a separate additional sampler which carries out sampling of PM10 (AED ≤ 10 microns). The additional ( PM10) sampler is provided with a digital electronic gas flow cum volume meter and an in-built flow controller using critical orifice. Its sampling inlet together with its size separator and filter holder is kept away at a distance of more than 1 meter from PM2.5 sampling inlet. This design ensures compliance with EPA reference method for determination of PM10 thus making it a standard reference method instrument for PM10 sampling too.

Salient Features :

  • Two non-interfering independent channels - Each complying the corresponding US EPA reference method. PM2.5 sampling channel complies with US EPA PM2.5 reference method and PM10 sampling channel complies with US EPA PM10 reference method.

Physical Design Highlights :

1. The system utilizes a double diaphragm sampling pump with independent flow inlet and outlet for each flow channel housed in a separate housing. Flow capacity for each channel more than 40 LPM. Pump operation controlled by PM 2.5 control module.

2. Flow control in each channel is independent.

3. The flow system of PM10 channel incorporates a critical orifice to provide a fixed flow. The flow measurement and display in this channel is provided by Electronic gas volume meter.

4. Though the sampler comprises two logically distinct and separate samplers, the components of each the samplers which if co-located do not interfere with the performance of the other samplers are housed in the single enclosure-the AFDS enclosure. This is indicated in the general arrangement diagram shown below

PM 2.5 CHANNEL

PM 2.5 Channel of PEM–DCAFDS 1 comprises an improved louvered PM10 sampling Inlet, a PM-10 size separator, a WINS impactor for PM 2.5, a filter holder for 47mm diameter filter, a flow measurement system, a proportioning valve for flow control, a sampling pump and an electronic control module (ECM). All these assemblies along with ambient pressure and temperature sensors and the sampling pump are housed in an enclosure suitable for outdoor environment. The Sampling pump can be optionally located in a separate housing.

PM 2.5 CHANNEL

Flow Measurement System

The air flow is measured by measuring the differential pressure across an orifice plate installed in the sampling line. The pressure at the inlet of the orifice and differential pressure across it is measured with Solid State pressure sensors. The flow is obtained from a 3/5 point calibration table stored in the Electronic Control Module of the sampler.

Electronic Control Module

The ECM is a microprocessor-based electronic unit which carries out multiple functions of monitoring, control, regulation, timing, computation and Operator Machine Interface. It monitors and regulates flow to within ±2%. It also monitors the ambient temperature and controls temperature of the filter to ensure that the differential remains within ±50C. It measures and records the barometric pressure. It is user friendly, easy to configure and operate. It includes a non-volatile RAM, 4 line LCD display, a key pad and a USB communication port for PC interface. The various program parameters and measurements can be transferred to a laptop in the field. Optionally the same can be transferred onto a pen drive for further transfer to a PC. Application Software under Windows environment is also provided for enabling data transfer and computation of the final results on the PC.

PM 10 CHANNEL

PM 10 Channel of PEM–DCAFDS 1 comprises an improved louvered PM10 sampling Inlet, a PM-10 size separator, a filter holder for 47mm diameter filter, a flow measurement system, a precision critical orifice for flow control, an electronic gas flow cum volume meter (EGVM) and a sampling pump. All these assemblies except EGVM are mounted on a folding stand suitable for outdoor environment. The Sampling pump is located in a separate housing.

Flow Measurement System

The air flow is measured by measuring the differential pressure across an orifice plate installed in volume meter. The differential pressure across it is measured with Solid State pressure sensors. The flow is obtained from a multi point calibration table stored in the EGVM mounted in the sampler. The EGVM is a microprocessor-based electronic unit which carries out functions of monitoring, flow and computing volume. It is user friendly and needs no configuration includes a non-volatile RAM for volume storage, 2 line LCD display and one key for erasing stored volume.
