High Volume PM 10 Samplers
High Volume Air Sampler (HVAS) is the generic name of equipment which is employed for sampling large volumes of atmospheric air for collecting the contained particulate matter by filtration. The particulate matter is defined as finely divided solids or liquids that may be dispersed through the air from combustion processes, industrial activities or natural sources.
The particulate matter for which a HVAS is designed is classified according to the size of the particulates.
Particulates with Aerodynamically Equivalent Diameter of less than 100 microns is called Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM). PM10 is the name given to particulates with Aerodynamically Equivalent Diameter of less than 10 microns.
Every HVAS is designed to be used either as a SPM sampler or PM10. This unique capability in our samplers is afforded by flexibility and adaptability in the design of our samplers. Each of our HVAS is designed to adapt two easily interchangeable air sampling inlets viz. a Gable roof or a Size Selective Inlet.
On the one hand, when a Gable roof is employed as the sampling inlet, HVAS becomes a SPM sampler. On the other hand, when the gable roof is replaced by a Size Selective Inlet, the HVAS transforms into a PM10 sampler.
This flexibility results in great savings for the user as by a marginal extra investment at any convenient time the user gets to own two samplers at nearly the cost of one.
Polltech distinguishes the two applications of the High Volume Air Sampler by referring to sampler as Model PEM-HVS xx and PEM-RDS xx for sampling of SPM and PM10 respectively.

The categories are distinguished from one another in respect of the technological sophistication in flow measurement and control and also in blower model employed for generation of flow.
Within each category, the various models are distinguished based on some operational features and cost.
