Radioactivity and Radon Measuring Instruments

Radioactive materials emit ionizing radiation, which may lead to harmful effect to living beings by causing chemical changes in cells and damaging them. By damaging the genetic material (DNA) contained in the body’s cells, radiation can cause cancer. The extent of the damage to the cells depends upon the amount and duration of the exposure, as well as the organs exposed.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer and a serious public health concern. It is formed from the decay of radium, a radioactive element in the decay series of uranium or thorium. It is a heavy substance that is a gas under normal conditions and being an alpha emitter is considered to be a health hazard. Measurement of radon in living atmosphere thus becomes pertinent while assessing dose from natural environment.

We design and manufacture instruments, devices and accessories to enable detection and measurement of radioactive contamination in workplaces. We also design and manufacture instruments and devices for the detection and measurement of Radon concentration in work places, ambient air and soil and water etc.
